I build software for myself, then write about the parts that were hard enough to change how I think.

Most of what I am working on right now comes back to one question: what would personal software look like if it had to remember who you are, earn trust slowly, and stay on hardware you own. The shorter version of that question is a self-hosted personal ai agent called Randalf.

This site is for the longer version. The essays are where I can write down what actually happened, what broke, what I misunderstood at first, and what I had to build around the model before I could start relying on it.
